Doors FAQs

When you’re looking at replacing your external doors it can feel really overwhelming to begin with. We’re often asked the same questions by our customers which is why we’ve compiled this list of questions and answers, we hope it answers all the door questions you may have.

How do I know if my door needs replacing?

Your front door is the main point of entry into your home and therefore it needs to be the most secure. When you move into a new home, the first thing you should do is consider either replacing your front door or changing the locks. If your door needs replacing it will likely start showing visible signs of damage. Here are some things you should be looking out for:

Simply not liking your current door is a good enough reason to look at replacing it, after all, it’s the first thing you see every time, you enter your home.

What’s the best material for a replacement front door?

There isn’t one! What’s best for one house may not be best for another. You should write yourself a list of everything you want from your door and decide on a budget.

We’ve created this helpful comparison table to assist you in making your decision:

What options can I choose for my back door?

At Reddish Joinery, we offer three styles of glazed back doors to flood your home with gorgeous natural light. They’re all perfect choices for homes in Cheshire and beyond, they all offer a slightly different look but are all certain to enhance the appearance of your home.

French doors

The traditional dual-door design has remained popular thanks to its elegant yet effortless opening. French doors can be manufactured using either timber or uPVC, both are great for keeping your home warm and can be customised to your taste.

Bi-folding doors

A bi-folding door is the perfect option when you’re looking to create the illusion of more space. Offering ultra-slim sightlines to maximise the amount of light flowing into your home. Thanks to its concertina-style you’re able to fully open the doors to enjoy the fresh air and keep your home cooler in the summer.

Sliding patio doors

A sliding patio door can be installed in almost any property as we’re able to design it to perfectly fit the space needed using 2, 3 or 4 glass panels. Sliding patio doors allow you to seamlessly blend your exterior with your interior. Effortlessly gliding open during the warm summer months and keeping the cold at bay during the winter.

Will my replacement door be custom?

Absolutely! Every home improvement product we install is made to measure and our doors are no different. At Reddish, our doors are available in countless styles, and you’ll get to decide on the colour, hardware, and even the glazing.

For our bi-folding doors, you’ll even be able to customise the configuration of your panels and our team will be there to advise you on the best profile for your space.

What colours are available for a replacement door?

At Reddish Joinery, we offer a huge range of colours, in most styles you’ll be able to choose from well over 100 RAL colours. You’ll be able to perfectly match your window colour or go for something completely different to create some gorgeous contrast.

Our composite doors are available in a selection of 36 colours, covering everything from modern shades of grey, popular pastel shades, and timber effect finishes.

How much does a replacement door cost?

The cost of your door will be completely dependent on the type of door you’re looking to install, a bi-folding door is often considered a luxury door option and will cost more than a uPVC front door. If you contact us a member of our expert team will be able to give you an accurate free, no-obligation quote based on your project.

I approached Reddish Joinery to replace windows on a house we were renovating. Lee was professional, honest and made me feel like he couldn’t do enough. The quality of the finished job was amazing, and we've already booked them for phase two of our renovation.

Customer | Reddish

After meeting Lee and Caroline we decided to use Reddish Joinery to replace all of our windows and doors in our Edwardian property. They were professional and very nice people, who made us feel very comfortable and confident in their work. Reddish did everything they said they would do, their attitude and work ethic is exemplary and we would recommend them to anyone.

Reddish Joinery was recommended by 2 sets of neighbours. We are so glad we used them. The service from start to finish was excellent. The director gave really good advice on replacing our old Victorian-style windows with similar wooden ones. Reddish Joinery virtually matched them including replacing the leaded-light windows. The office staff were very efficient. The fitters were extremely professional and ensured that no damage was caused to the interior decoration or external. We would highly recommend Reddish Joinery.
