During the Summer we were approached by a previous customer for whom we’d installed replacement windows and doors at their home in Cheshire. Mr. and Mrs. Bohme were impressed by the standard of our work and felt confident that Reddish Joinery were the best people to professionally complete a larger project. The project consisted of replacing an old conservatory with a modern orangery. The orangery was to be installed onto the footprint of the old conservatory as the family were happy with the positioning of the previous extension.
Working closely with Mr. and Mrs. Bohme, the design team at Reddish Joinery created a bespoke plan to translate the family’s ideas into a workable reality. After discussing their options, Mr. and Mrs. Bohme decided that an Accoya orangery would best enhance their home.
Accoya wood is an incredibly high quality timber. Not only is it durable and thermally efficient; it is also eco-friendly and aesthetically attractive. After viewing our gallery of orangery installations and discussing the benefits of Accoya wood with our design experts; Mr. and Mrs. Bohme decided that an Accoya orangery would perfectly complement their home’s character and improve their living standards.
To maximise space and create uniformity, our designers suggested replacing the existing French doors and bay windows with a set of light oak bi-fold doors. Our bi-fold doors are manufactured with slim sightlines to maximise light intake. Fitted with low-e glass, they reflect the sun’s UV rays during the Summer to create a pleasantly cool living area.
With identical sets of bi-fold doors on both the original property’s entrance and the orangery’s exterior entrance, the property now benefits from a symmetrical ‘feel’. On warm sunny days, both sets of bi-folds can be fully opened to create a large living space which flows from the garden, through the orangery into the original property.
Mr. and Mrs. Bohme were concerned that an orangery with a lantern roof may reduce natural light intake. Our experts illustrated how the system is designed to maximise light intake while insulating your home more efficiently than a traditional fully glazed roof. The partial glazing creates a cosier atmosphere while not compromising on natural light.
Mrs Bohme was enthusiastic about the family’s experience with Reddish Joinery, “The building work was professionally managed at every stage and the quality of workmanship (and workmen!) extremely good. I have no hesitation in recommending Reddish Joinery as I can honestly say they have changed our lives!” Regarding the completed orangery Mrs. Bohme couldn’t have been happier, saying, “I can only describe the Orangery as ‘the stuff that dreams are made of’. It really has the wow factor.”
