The idea started after reading the first few paragraphs of the book “Your Life Is Manufactured.”
The book explains that almost everything around us is manufactured, apart from natural elements like rocks, earth, and the sea. It also highlights how manufacturing has moved away from everyday life and into industrial estates or overseas.
That got me thinking about a recent visit to Victorian Sliders® and how rare it is today to actually see how things are made.

A recent visit to Victorian Sliders® confirmed something important:
Sometimes the decisions you make years ago, without overthinking price or convenience, turn out to be exactly right.
We first came across their products when a showroom van turned up offering uPVC sash windows. At the time, we were sceptical. How good could they really be?
Later, we were invited to visit their factory and see the ECOSlide® sash window being made from start to finish.

The visit began with a presentation before we even stepped into the factory. It gave us a preview of what we were about to see and made us even more curious.
Once we were geared up in PPE, we entered the factory floor.
The first stop was the recycling centre.

Old window and door frames are:
These materials are processed into:
Everything is reused wherever possible. Even the water used in production is recycled through a closed-loop system.
This fits perfectly with our own approach; we already separate waste for recycling or reuse wherever we can.
We learned how uPVC profiles are created through extrusion:

Production is continuous. The company keeps large amounts of stock ready to ensure customers aren’t delayed.
Everything is stored in controlled conditions to maintain quality and consistency.
All parts of the window are made and assembled in-house, including glazing.
This means:
Seeing the entire process under one roof showed just how much work goes into a single order.

Being close to the source of production has real benefits:
Too often, products claim to be “made in the UK” but rely on parts from multiple suppliers. That’s not the case here.
What stood out most was the honesty of the company:
Their values align closely with ours. That matters.
We see ourselves as a link between manufacturing and the end customer.
This connection is especially clear with ECOSlide®.
Our role isn’t just to sell a product. It’s to explain how it’s made and how your choices affect the wider world. Even when we source products we don’t manufacture, we try to keep the supply chain short, so it stays transparent and meaningful.

Our business started in joinery and will always have a love for timber.
But seeing ECOSlide® windows being made showed us something important:
There is a genuine alternative that offers the same care, attention, and quality without putting as much strain on natural resources.
